Warbird Information Exchange

I am looking for photos of the subject aircraft that display the classic fuselage letter code utilized on training aircraft 1942-1945. To date I've only found ONE (a BT-14) which is attached that displays the letter suffix code of "G" indicating Gunter Field, Alabama. Joe Baugher's S/N site indicates that a number of BT-9's were coming to grief in the San Antonio area in 1943 and they no doubt would have been carrying a letter code.

My purpose is to enhance my website of http://www.fuselagecodes.com with photos reflecting the varied training aircraft of that period. As always photo credits from contributing sources are always documented accordingly.

Thanks so much for your feedback. Yes, the photo you fowarded is that of a classic AT-6 Texan. The NAA BT-9 was characerized with fixed landing gear and a fabric covered fuselage.

My search is like looking for the illusive "needle in a haystack".

Thanks so much for your contribution of Gunter Field photos. It seems that all the photos reflect the Vultee BT-13 Valiant series of Basic trainer. I was especially impressed with the French familiarization booklet. It's a keeper!! As I commented above to Mark the NAA BT-9 is probably the most illusive as they were being replaced rapidly with the BT-13. I'm counting on the fact that a few may have remained on the inventory as "hacks" and 'hopefully' a letter code may have been applied and of course...a photo was taken!!

Elusive. Sorry, but twice in one thread drives me cuckoo...
Keep looking on ebay for WWII photo albums - I've turned up a few good B-17 trainer photos (a current kick of mine) that way.
