Looking for info on this PV-2. I believe she was sold at the Globe auction, and transfered to Vigna Di Valle Air Museum, Italy the same year. The last Google photo shows an HU-16 Albatross sitting where my last picture of the Harpoon was sitting. Not long ago, the Albatross was cut up for scrap...does anyone know the disposition of this Harpoon?

Gary,

Sorry to post on this topic, but do you know what may have happened to N7086C, T-43? The N # has been deregistered.

Does this help? N7086C looks to be Tanker 112. (What is T-43?)

This photo is dated May 2013. Not sure if it was taken or posted then.

CS, Anything Harpoon is Kosher! As Mike has shown, yes this bird is still around and is T-112 now, not sure about what ship carried T-43 markings... 7086C is owned by the Pearl Harbor Museum in Hawaii, but have had difficulties getting her out due to the politics of the Gila River Indian Tribe, who's land she sits on. I highly suggest extreme caution .....no best bet is to stay off their land, unless you like tribal jail cells and potentially high fines for trespass, or you "know somebody" Even J. McCain couldn't influence the tribe to get this aircraft off their property. I pulled the rudders off this bird when she was inside the hangar there in 2007, and did a trade for them last December.

Mike, do you know when the pic was taken of 86C in Italy? It is sitting at the same place as the pic I have of her...current google shows an Albatross sitting there now, but the Albatross has been scrapped since....

Anybody have friends in Italy?

I completely forgot about T-112. I am confused though. In my book called, Firebombers in Action, by Frederick Johnses, there are several pictures of a PV, color and B&W, that depict a PV-2, N7086C, T-43 in Wenatchee WA.

This particular aircraft looks exactly like the PV that sat out here in the weeds in GDV during the Kinney/Dawson Aviation era. I'm certain the airplane in my book was the same that sat here as it had a very unique nosepiece and the red stripe is exactly how I remember it.

I have one picture of the airplane when it sat here in GDV. Unfortunately, it is a 3/4 front photo, so the N number is not visible.

I forgot to add that maybe two different aircraft had the same N number. Either that or T-112's red stripe was stripped, and repainted in a different design scheme which is very likely.

Anyone out there have Firebombers in Action by Frederick A Johnsen to confirm my confusion?

I don't have my Lockheed book with me at this time, but will look up her history when I get home. These Harpoon tankers were traded and sold like changing dirty socks back in the day....This very well could have been in Wa. as T-43....It could have been an old Central tanker...if I see Bill Dempsey, I'll see if I can jog his memory, as he owned a few Harpoons in his time...I am pretty sure Larry Krouse who is on this site could tell you.
