P-38 Lightning and Mosquito for sale

The Mosquito is Glyn Powell's own aircraft. Such a shame - he just doesn't have the money to finish it before he dies - and he wants to see it finished before he pegs out!
(Glynn is the marvel behind the new Mosquito fuselages and wings)

Has anybody heard the asking price for the P-38? I know the ad says they'll let you know when you call them...(I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it!)

Were I drowning in money, here's what would happen with Mossie NZ2308. I'd pony up whatever the asking price is; I'd then fund her completion, as quickly as practicable, in NZ, then tell Mr Powell, this is really yours...keep and operate her in NZ as long as you can, then, when you can't continue, just let me know which flying museum in NZ I should place her with on permanent loan...

Alas, I am not drowning in money. I do hope the new owner of NZ2308 sees fit to allow at least a short period of flying in NZ when she's ready, as Mr Yagen did with KA114...

Wow - so this is the P-38 that Ed and Jimmy flew over to England a few years back! I remember following that epic trip on airshowbuzz.com

This one flew from the U.S. to England many years before ASB ever came about (1989). You're thinking of the 2007 "Bolero II" flight with "Glacier Girl" (and she never made it to England).

'Glacier Girl' is now with Lewis Air Legends in Texas.

And yes, I am thinking of "Bolero II" and now that I think of it it was Glacier Girl but I thought they did eventually get her over there. Guess it is just my poor memory.

Steve Hinton was flying the P-38 on 'Bolero II'. Shipley flew the TF-51 (which did get there eventually) and Beasley was not involved.

Well keep in mind this is a salesmans description in the ad, but in any case who are you going to get to work on it? The team in NZ has all the molds and all the experience with Jerry's example so why wouldn't they be first choice. I imagine the condition of this airframe is not much different than his was, and not like Kermit's. As for test flying would you want to make sure everything is perfect before shipping it away from the factory?

Not strictly true, the work requiring the molds has already been done, and the team over at Avspecs did the systems work on Yagen's Mosquito.
