Anyone know of any cool warbirds that are stored at local airports and have been "forgotten"? Thanks.

Not really a warbird but, there is a Matador missile on a pylon about 6 miles NE of the Goldsboro-Wayne airport in NC. (GWW) I can get google coordinates, tomorrow. It's sits beside a lonely country road, nearby was the Big Daddy's airport.

I have been through Addis Ababa airport in Ethiopia twice over the past two months for work. There are most definitely 2-3 derelict DC-3/C-47 aiframes sitting there.

Not necessarily at an airport, but a lot of stuff is still underwater. I know in Maryland, there's more than a few planes at the bottom of the Magothy River that were lost on training flights from Baltimore AAB (mostly P-40s and P-47s). I've never heard any mention of them and wonder if they are still down there. There's also a number that went down in Chesapeake Bay itself, but the brackish water of the Bay probably won't lead to any significant recoveries.

In the North, an airplane either earns it's keep to the last can of beans or it goes away. the airplanes are very very tired with every last minute wrung out, perhaps enough bits could be stuck together to make one flyable airframe. EVRTTS is converting to surplus C-9B's ex Navy as avgas is getting really hard to find and very expensive the further North you go, plus surplus commuter turboprops and older, smaller real jets (DC-9/737 3&400 's) are covering the drier climes and owners are looking to recoup some money so the freight now goes via ATR, Dash8, Banderante, etc. all ex 'Big Tree Arlines' defunct feeder lines returns and retired from the 'bigs'.
GOOGLE EARTH Fairbanks International in Fairbanks to see the graveyard.
