I remember reading his book. Awesome courage and dedication on his part; but, makes you wonder if it was a waste of a life.

Found this Onoda photo interesting. His uniform is quite impressive after all the time he spent out in the field. Not sure my thoughts though on his holding out for so long. I could go a few different ways with that. Courage or a dissolutioned determined committment to duty. One must make his/her own determination of that philosophy I suppose.
