Hi all,

Was wondering if someone would be able to help, to find out where the AT-6F Texans came from, when these were registered for DLB in 1957/1958. In those days also a number of AT-6F Texans(Harvards) were registered in France, for the Air France training.

In my records all those T-6s, French and German, are listed as having been used by the USA(A)F in Europe (e.g. WW2 9AF, postwar 406FBW Manston). Obviously they became redundant in the (late) fifties and they were probably sold at a kind of auction. The German registered AT-6F Texans were: D-FAMA, FAMU, FATI, FDEM, FDOK, FIBA and FOTO. The Air France Texans were F-BJBP / F-BJBV.

I expect this auction having been somewhere in Germany (where they were stored?). Who knows?

Feedback very much appreciated.

Regards,

Benno (The Netherlands)

Where did the T-6s used as German fighters in the film "Where Eagles Dare" come from...Germany, France, or Switzerland (if they had any, I don't know off the top of my head)?

They were from the Swiss AF.

Ollie is absolutely correct. I have been at the filming site at Aigen airfield (Austria) just when the filmcrew left. All those former Swiss AF T-6 used in the film were scrapped after filming was finished, saw them prior to and when being loaded on trucks of a scrapmetal company.
BTW the Ju 52 was Swiss AF as well.
