Any update on 45-8811 B-25J

anyone have any information on the status of this airframe following its mishap?

The last info, just after the forced landing, said the plane was a total write off.
No news since that. Last rumours said the plane was still stored in its homebase of Melun.

Just after the mishap, there were people coming to take picture of the plane, coming inside the plane, etc like they visited Disneyworld. The owner was logically angry by that and stopped to communicate about the futur of the plane.

she was one of the newest of the last of the batch of J models....well there are some airframes in Europe I imagine that could benefit from her remains. sad very sad. I imagine that the great team at Aero Trader could rebuild her though. Shipping and handling would be astro-fricking-nomical however.

From comment made by people involved in historical aviation about the damages : It's fixable (everything is) but the cost is superior to the cost to buy and restore one of the airframe stored in some place.
So the probability to see this plane restored is very reduced.

The fuselage was heavily damaged and one of the engine was separated from wing, and went under the plane causing heavy damage to wing and nacelle.

I saw this plane in 2010 in La ferté Alais Airshow, they performed a take-off during a nice pirotechnic sequence: the plane crossing the smoke during its lift off.

Maybe it will be fixable at some point in the future when the value goes up, or like you say, good for spare parts. Very unfortunate.

Irrespective of the future of the airframe, we should all be grateful that a skillful bit of piloting avoided the accident being much worse.

Sure, It was a happy end when you saw the damage and known that the two pilots exit the plane unhurt.
