Warbird Information Exchange

I'm hoping to visit Las Vegas next month to meet a Troop Carrier C-47 pilot and I want to take him to see a C-47 so that it triggers some stories of his time flying.

Does anybody know of a heritage park or aviation museum which has a C-47/DC-3 on display fairly close to Vegas?

This is the only website I could find, might worth sending them an email for confirmation. The address they have listed doesnt look anywhere near an airport so maybe they are in the planning phases? Worth a shot.

Poking around on GOOGLE Earth in the southern Nevada area airports didn't turn up anything that looks like the iconic planform of a DC-3, but it did answer a long time question that I'm sure others have wondered about too-Apparently Boulder City AZ IS BFE (kids, ask your dad)

Lost Birds is run by Doug Scroggins. He supplies aircraft mock-ups for TV and movies.

I don't think he has a complete C-47. I think it is a cockpit, but a pretty interesting one. IIRC it is an ex-PBA bird that survived a mid-air.

You'll probably get a faster response from "Doug" if you email him "at" his "Scroggins Aviation dot com" address (not spelled out to keep the spam bots away...).

Note that Doug keeps a lot of stuff in his yard at Mojave, so the C-47 might be there, too.
