How was it? I have the DVD but haven't watched it yet...
My 6 year old son loves this movie and has all the die cast characters. We bought the Blue Ray/DVD combo and on the Blue Ray there is a making of featurette about one of the producers of the movie. It turns out that this producer's father flew F9F Panthers in Korea and was the influence of 'Skipper'. The short film shows him and his teenage sons exploring POF at Chino, and getting to sit in the cockpit of the F9F on display there as he explains to them what their grandfather did. It culminates in him getting a ride in the P-51 Spam Can with his two sons in the B-25 Photo Fanny. There's some great air to air footage. He goes on to explain that on the ground the planes in the movie could be as 'animated' as you wanted them to be, but in the air they had to behave like planes, no cartoon like bending the rules of physics. He also insisted on the in flight animation take on the feel that it was filmed by a camera along side in a photo ship to give it that feel of realism.
Also, for those of you who pay attention and like little details there is a nod to Top Gun. The fighter jets 'Bravo' and 'Echo' are played by Anthony Edwards 'Goose' and Val Kilmer 'Iceman'. They even have the same helmets they wore in Top Gun.
