Just wanted to pass along that the sandbar Mitchell foundation is looking for any info on the missing cockpit section of 44-30733 That was cut off of the wreck in 2005ish and apparently made its way somewhere down into the lower 48 states in 2009-2010. Has anyone seen/heard any rumors of someone having a piece like that?? I am surprised that such a sale would of never been reported but I am hoping someone here has heard something!!!
They are also looking for the wings and rear half of the fuselage of the aircraft too!!

Thanks
-Evan

You might want to check with Scott Thompson aka aerovin on this one.
In the meantime, as I've suggested once before: If all they have is a center section to start with, would they consider getting the B-25B nose and tail from Aero Trader? I'd sure like to see a Tokyo Raiders Mitchell come to life again in my lifetime. Unless they want ten jillion dollars for it.

They have the ex air kahuna front and rear fuselage and one wing already he just wants to track down as many parts original to the plane as possible and solve the mystery of where everything went. :)

Hello guys,

Evan, thanks for the post. Chris,

We do have almost a complete B-25 airframe with help from the parts of other B-25's which we been collecting. We are mostly in need of a right vertical stabilizer and better Horizontal. The horizontal we have is by far the worst part of the project and is basically patterns.

We would just like to know exactly what happened to the rest of the aircraft so we can try to return most of the original parts as possible. Aero Trader has both vertical stabilizers, control surfaces, horizontal stabilizer and the bombardiers nose section from Sandbar Mitchell. We are still hoping we can buy these parts once we can get a price from Carol.

I have spoken to the gentlemen who cut the cockpit off SBM, he is a Fairbanks local who is a pilot. He said over they years he watch parts disappear and figured that one day someone would cut it off so he did it and put it in his back yard. After enjoying it, he said he sold it for a cash deal and it was moved to the lover 48, he believed CA. Carol said he didn't have it. My thought if it is in CA maybe a movie prop. It was sold around 2009.

As for the outer wing panels, and top of the rear fuselage my guess is it was used in someones project around the Fairbanks area.

We are always collecting parts, so if you all know of any pass them our way. We do have a R-2800-79 engine core for trade or sale.

Happy Holidays

Patrick
