Sad duty to report that Australian collector Syd Beck has recently passed away

He is most well known for his recovery of P-39-41-6951

Sorry to hear of it. His can-do attitude was a personal inspiration.

Sad News, and condolences to the family

A great loss for Australian Warbird community, he was a living legend as his exploits charged the minds of many young people
to go out and do something to save warbirds.

I first met Syd and his wonderful family when I went to high school in Townsville, a time that has always stuck with me and of course,
fostered my love for the P-39.

Rest in Peace Syd

Indeed sad loss, he never lost that country lad aspect to his personality. Many under estimated his old school values when trying to "deal" with him, he told me about the many attempts / offers for the B26 parts he had in the collection....

I met Syd back in 1997 when I was working for the Queensland Police and did an inspection of the armoury facilities for the film "Thin Red line" which was filmed in and around Mossman, Mareeba & NQ using some of Syds collection (that's me in the pic).
