Zorro, I have seen them on epay once or twice, seem to be generic Vought rather than -5 specific, cheers, Pete

Zorro, haha hills! the nearest one is about 60 km south of the airport :P Yes we hope to have a chase plane up for the first flights, weight & balance done and progressing thru the last requirements for certification like rego markings, experimental sticker, etc, all the really important stuff!!!! I have to think someone has a great collection of ex FAH cockpit ID plates if yours is missing, ours was missing, and I believe others are too!! I am part way thru the construction of one of the catapult hook fairings under the wing, not an easy panel but it is the last of all the sheetmetal stuff to do, cheers, Pete

Good day!

The F4U panels are a serious work of art! Same with the hydraulic lines. Good luck on the 1st flight!!!

p.s I will find out for you if any of the FAH airworthy F4Us of Dec '79 had the real cockpit id plates installed. Someone bit me to the cockpit of FAH 609 c.1990s it had a mod id plate vs the Vought original Id plate. We are trying with a Co in a process called AL sublimation to come with something close to it. I will include our sample for next time. You may also look here: www.pista01.com

The news about the chase plane are great! I may even skip the World Cup just to see FAH 603 take to the blue skies again! You may send me a pm to give me an estimate sometime of 1st flight preparations. c. 2014. Tks

p.s Australia is still in my world tour agenda!! :drink3:

Good day!

Found these unique Vought id plates designs! Do someone has more details or better resolution pics of them?

Does anyone know if the FAH F4U Corsairs has cockpit ID plates when they arrived at Houston, TX Dec 1979??

p.s OzFuryFan ...I think we 'are heading in the right direction with the prototype.

Zorro those are employee awards, Our museum has a few of them on display. The bulk of them are readily available on Ebay if you look around.
