Ken's widow has apparently died and the aircraft is to be auctioned off. Basically a "barn find" Mustang that has been sitting in a hangar at Torrance airport unflown since maybe the 1970s?

Saw some photos dated yesterday, but they aren't mine to post. Looks like the stabilizers and the scoop have been removed and it retains its civilian paint scheme.

There are two other aircraft located at Compton, but I have no idea what they are.

Looks to be a PT-22. The STA had internal longerons. The fuselage
in the photo appears to have the external longerons

You thought right.

Yesterday I was (once again) going through my list of aircraft I'd buy if a fortune fell into my lap.

An STM was in the top 5. Gorgeous aircraft.

That's such a cool find. It's fascinating how whenever a Mustang is lost, like "Galveston Gal" another one appears out of nowhere to be rebuilt. Just a wild guess, but I'm going to say this one is an ex-RCAF bird. Guess is based on the year it went on the civilian registry coincides when a lot were coming south to Indiana, FLorida, etc for Transall Aviation later Cavalier. Sales were made to civilians as well as militaries.

cannot comment specifically on the P51, although it is very cool to see such a high dollar warbird in a T hangar and stored apparently untouched for so long,

But the fuselage in front is a PT22, ST-A and STM airframes do not have a baggage compartment.
By the way Kyleb, it will not be too long before new ST-As are once again available...

Wow, its still there.I haven't seen that bird since 83 when I flew out of Torrance.What a fun time.
