Yes, it is and congrats to all who made it happen. Who had the honors for the flight?

The pilot was Charlie "Tuna" Hainline.

With all due respect to Mr. Nichols and his great Yanks collection, given that most of his aircraft don't fly, I don't see the number of flying examples to increase soon.

It would be interesting to know more about the Geek ship, but given it appears to have spent time outside...I won't hold my breath.

Having flown two of their fighters recently (one out of restoration this past year), I disagree with your statement. There are projects in the pipeline that will be flown. As to their Helldiver, visible progress is being made each time I go out there.

And the fact the Helldiver has been a long term project, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to fly soon.

Well, yeah. Like any other operator with over a hundred airplanes, most don’t fly (aside from CAF, but that’s apples and oranges). However, the “number of flying examples” is actively increasing. High performance examples at that.

I was able to see the National Museum of World War II Aviation SB2C at the Colorado Springs airshow yesterday. It is a fine looking bird, but I was disappointed it was unable to fly.
I asked a volunteer about it, and they said a wheel went "bad", so display only.
