Two Lancaster Bomber's ground running in Canada

Lancaster's FM213/KB726 and Lancaster FM159 were both ground running all four engines this weekend.

Things got underway with a night run on Friday night with the audio of Nightinggales song being played followed by the startup of Lancaster FM159 under a clear sky and full moon.. After ground running all four merlins for a few minutes, the flood lights were turned on and the sight of the Lancaste at night running up for all to see was something I will never forget!

Saturday was another beautiful Alberta day and with record crowd's, The old Lanc was run on two seperate occasions and was just as impressive seeing her run all four engines together!

Next step.. Taxiing !!

Word just cannot describe how AWESOME thiis
Incredible effort from both the aircraft and their crews
Canada owes them a debt of gratitude

WOW !!!!!

PS. the world now has 4 Lancs that can run all their engines
Wouldn't it be great if the one down on the East Coast at Greenwood was running again
I am told Greenwoods could be easily made airworthy again (?)

Hi Cam, sadly, greenwoods is a stripped out shell with no engines. The Lanc at Edmundston New Brunswick would be a perfect example to return to flight!

What happened
I recall seeing pics from the 80's that showed her to be pretty complete
Was she stripped of parts to be used on other projects ?

She was stripped as there was talk about putting her up on a post at one point thankfully that didnt happen. Cwh got spares including engines from her for FM213.

This is really cool. I love how a lot of Canadian and British museums have some of their aircraft in running condition, even if they don't have the money or aren't in good enough condition to fly. I wish more U.S. museums would do this.
