I took a ride in the CAF B-29 FiFi. The view from the bombardier seat was awesome. The men and women who built and flew these aircraft even more awesome

I sat between the pilots, the seat folds to let you in

A really beautiful day

Very cool. How long is FiFi going to be at KAKR?

Yes, a very professional and fun ride
One question: Do you ever pressurize the aircraft? A couple people asked me. I know we were never at those altitudes, but could FiFi be pressurized @ altitude?

Thanks again

"FIFI" has not been pressurized for a LONG time. Between having to maintain the equipment and the stresses on the airplane, just not worth it. BTW with the exception of having to hop over a mountain ridge, I don't think I have ever been above about 8500 feet on the old girl.

I have loved the opportunities I have had over the last fifteen years with the old lady....

Lucky bugger! :supz:
I'm still hoping she'll get up to Seattle sometime, as I've told my wife long ago I will pay to ride this bird. I've gotten several warbird rides over the years and I never had to pay for any of them. I figure I'm so far ahead of the curve I should pay for the next one. I have to be able to say I've done the WW2 four-engine trifecta of a 17, 24 and a 29, just need a hop on Fifi to complete that!

As for the question of cabin pressurization on FiFi, the cabin pressurization air was taken from the inboard turbosuperchargers on the inboard engines on stock B-29's. I understand that FiFi no longer has turbosuperchargers. So, no turbos, no cabin pressurization! Also no cabin heat.
