August 1st marked 70 years after TIDALWAVE, the low-level USAAF attack at Ploesti. With "Diamond Lil" at OSH that day, I was hopeful some type of tribute display might be flown. AFAIK that opportunity was missed.

Also in USAAF history, August 17th is "Black Thursday", marking 70 years after the first Schweinfurt-Regensburg Mission.

Not wishing to bore WIXers with the familiar details, I just wanted to invite all to mark the moments and remember the sacrifices made.

Keep 'em flying! :drink3:

You must be mistaken DanK. August 17, 1943 was a Tuesday.

Your are correct, sir.

Aug. 17 = 1st Schweinfurt raid

Oct. 14 = 2nd Schweinfurt raid..."Black Thursday"

Many thanks for your gentle correction,

Dan (seriously hoping Oct. 14, 1943 was a Thursday  )
