I'm trying to contact the Pima Air Museum regarding the retirement of an historically significant aircraft. Does anyone have a solid POC at the museum I can touch base with regarding this issue? The Pima website has not been useful for this so far. Thanks.

I'm the museum's curator. You can contact me at my work email: jstemm@pimaair.org

James, Although I knew you were connected w/ the museum, I did not know you are the curator there. That has to be a pretty interesting job I would think. How long have you held the curator's job? Also, can you give us another update on the restoration efforts there at the museum? Thanks as always.

I've worked here for 16 years and I've been curator for the last 7.

And the restoration update:

Most recently finished project:

Avro Shackleton. Should be finished this week.

James,

Could you update the effort on the Martin B-26 Marauder?

Love the KB-50!!!!!

James...I love Pima, when I was in grad school in Phoenix, I'd go there 2-3 times a year.

As a matter of fact, I'd bet that I was one of the first visitors there. Back in July or August of 1976 I went when all it consisted of was a bunch of airframes recently towed across the hiway from D-M and a small travel trailer where they took your money.
There was a roped off area for "projects" including a fin off a B-50. It was shredded by the wind while in storage at D-M since the 60s....and I confess...I swiped a piece of the fabric....I still have it. There was also a disassembled F-94, IIRC.

I'm really envious of your job. If I lived in Tucson, I'd be a full time volunteer (we almost moved there just because of that).

We finished the restoration on the Shackleton today so I thought I'd post a couple of updated photos.

The B-50 is absolutely stunning and the Shackelton looks fantastic (what a neat plane!)...

The Shackleton looks great! How long does it take before the sun destroys the shine?
