More Air to Air shots!

These were taken at the Breckenridge show. Thought I'd share a few as long as I'm scanning.

Johnny Rister in the Navion/L-17A which is a good photo platform.

Don Talley pulls up to the Navion in the YAK-11. Anyone know the registeration on this one?

Shot from our Navion. I think someone posted a shot of this formation earlier.

Steve, I did...in black and white...I was the 'tail end Charlie' on that photo mission and thinking I was never gonna get anywhere near the two Corsairs and the P-51 I shot up my two rolls of color film and only had black and white when I finally DID get near them....so I have a bunch of distant color shots and some close up B & W ones....early air to air photo lesson....always have RESERVE film...LOL.

Anybody know if Don Talley is still around? I watch Zane's 1990 Breckenridge Airsho youtube last night and saw his A/C. I also notice quite a few Mustangs and drivers no longer with us. Even the Cavanaugh's Mustang is there when it was owned by Elmo Hahn. Nice work Zane, did you ever shoot any of the partys on Saturday night fly-by??

Any US based Yak-11's other than the one pictured here that have operated with the stock engine?

The first Yak-11 operated in the US was G-AYAK which was the first Yak of any type seen flying in the West, it created a sensation in the UK and then at Oshkosh 1982, eventually was US-registered, acquired by Kermit, crunched in the hurricane, can be seen today in his shop waiting its turn. It had the original engine all along.

Not sure the one in the photo does have the original engine, cowling doesn't look right to me. After G-AYAK I never saw another one with an ASh. Saw plenty modified to American radials, not just R-2800s for Reno but more modest stuff that could pass for the original powerplants.

According to the Warbird Directory the registration is N9YK it is now registered in France as F-AZOS.
