Asked to help find the old LIFE Butch O'Hare series (a very nice one I may add) so as long as I re-post this series you may like a couple more as well. They all punched a profound ticket in their own way in what we could call the Warbird legacy.

i'm reading a book now on lindbergh & roosevelt entitled "LINDBERGH VS ROOSEVELT THE RIVALRY THAT DIVIDED AMERICA"
BY JAMES P. DUFFY. the book reveals the hate between the two, especially fdr!! he made it a point to smear lindy starting in 1934 during the air mail / airlines / u.s. air corp fiasco right till his death. when lindy went over to the pacific to train pilots on fuel economy he flew some missions strafing, bombing, & bagged a japanese sonia ground support plane. the missions were all hush hush. if roosevelt found out it would have been lindy's neck. fdr really abused his power re: lindy calling him a nazi, nazi dupe, anti semite, etc. he carried around a "benedict arnold" tag for many years till he could clear his name. fdr was more of a s.o.b. than people know.
