Been awhile since there were any updates that I can find. Anybody have recent pics?

Thanks,
John

Check out CAM Champaign Aviation Museum. They have posted lots of photos taken about three weeks ago when a group of their volunteers toured the restoration center at NMUSAF. Lots of current photos of Memphis Bell and the Swoose plus other restoration activities.

I searched their site and can't find any pictures of MB or Swoose on it...

Is this one of the Belle's wingtips? I don't even pretend to be an expert on B-17 anatomy, but is that a vent for the long-range "Tokyo" tanks? I didn't know she was equipped with them.

I can`t remember off the top of my head if the Belle had Tokyos or not. For some reason my brain says not. BUT... I do recall hearing that both wings were replaced at some point due to combat damage. It`s possible the replacement parts came from a ship that had the tanks. I could be wrong, but i`m just throwing it on the wall to see if it sticks.
