Since it sounds like the new owner isn't going the race scheme direction can I make a suggestion for a paint scheme? :wink:

... Actually I wonder if the new owner would be open to the idea of a temporary paint scheme for a year or so for a nice donation. Doesn't sound unreasonable in certain cases I'm sure. For other groups who operate warbirds I wonder if this has happened in the past. Not suggesting a permanent scheme but one which the donor and owner/group agree to a time frame and price for such a proposal. I would think it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Ex-Navy types since many schemes usually consist of overall Sea Blue with not too much as far as elaborate schemes. Just a thought.

At any rate congrats and much success on your restoration. Never enough Corsairs around.

The picture makes it look like a derelict 'cause it's got some road grim on it. I took this just before they rinsed the salt off. Just peeking up the tail cone, it looked fantastic under the skin.

I was concerned with the road grime. Wish it would have been wrapped like the Mustang was when it come to you guys.

Glad to see she's there safe and sound.....woulda loved to see the faces of those who saw her going east out of Colorado for Cheeseland....certainly woulda turned some heads. I don't know the squadron, but I'm gonna try to find the paint scheme of yellow and white schemed Corsairs from one of the smaller carriers in WWII....as i recall the tails were all white? That scheme always struck me as particularly outstanding....

Cool, first pic I've seen of an F4U with 2 blades removed giving the illusion of a 2 bladed prop on a Corsair!

So I says to myself..."Self...them Corsairs have three bladed props." And self says back to me, (after a bit of research) "You big dummy, FG1s didn't have four bladed props." I didn't know that. :roll:

The 4 blade prop will be coming off as well as the engine and a different R2800 with a 3 blade prop going on during the restoration. I can see some Race 94 parts being held onto for historical purposes!

If possible I'd be interested to see some shots of the wingtips. I'm sure others would also like to know if the existing wing panels can be repaired or will be replaced.

That's the $100000 question Andy. The wings, flaps and cowl flaps are going to be just a few of the challenges. Will post pictures when I can get to East Troy to look at the airplane and when the guys at Tab-Air get through all the bondo on the wings to open them up!
