Does anyone have a copy of AAC #3967, I need it to determine the correct shade of OD and Gray for my aircraft, the drawing has no other information except this fuselage stencil and the note which states Finish per AAC spec # 3967.

Thanks
Steve

I have always been told Clyde Smith " The Cub Doctor " knows the proper paint codes and how to mix it today.

I suspect that my aircraft left the factory with Olive Drab 41 Spec # 3-1 when it was built September of 1941 and delivered 11/18/1941. I would love to get my hands on a copy of Spec # 3967 just to be sure.

This paint is FS34087 OD 39 Army Corps of Engineers. The color OD 41 I am looking for is more brown.

34087 is a shade formulation from Vietnam era. It was used on vehicles and aircraft. It is close, but not the same as the WWII OD. I believe the WWII OD Stock # is 33090, but not sure. There is a company named TM 9 Ordnance which makes really good OD #8 appropriate for WWII wheeled vehicles in synthetic enamel and catalyzed urethane. I like the original synthetic enamel as it is dead-on for a good number of WWII vehicle parts I have owned. As for aircraft and this paint, I have some original 1950's-era recovered L-5 control surfaces that are a good match for this paint and are NOT semi-gloss but very flat as done in WWII. I don't know for sure if they were done in another color or if this is the exact shade. But it looks pretty close if not exactly correct to me. Good luck with your restoration!
