A while back I happened to watch part of the Dreamworks children's movie
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and one scene in particular immediately struck me as a perfect depiction of warbird restoration. (I know this seems strange, but bear with me.) Anyway, in the movie the protagonists are literally slingshot in an old Lockheed Electra lookalike from the island of Madagascar to mainland Africa before the
plane breaks up after crash landing. I swear, between the accurate depiction of the ragtag restoration techniques and the extremely vague estimated completion date, the
conversation following the crash was taken straight out of some warbird hangar!
