Roll Out ceremony pictures

Yesterday the Alberta Aviation Museum and 418 "City of Edmonton" Squadron proudly rolled out our B 25 Daisey Mae to a Large crowd of enthusiastic Edmontonians and Albertans.

We were fortunate to receive extensive television, radio and newspaper coverage, a special thanks you to our media friends.

Speakers included:
Lt Col Jim Gillespie ret, President 418 Squadron Association
Marvin Kowolchuk, President Alberta Aviation Museum
a Member of Parliament and a Member of the Alberta Legislature

Most importantly...
Wing Commander Terry Champion ret, who actually flew the original Daisey Mae as a young flying officer in the 1950s and Fred Guest who as a young Captain flew B 25s with the RAF (180 Squadron) in the European theater (RCAF attached to RAF) and went on to late serve with 418 Squadron in the 1950s.

All in all a fantastic day

A special thanks to everyone from the restoration team to those that made the event happen.

Tom,

Great photos ... the team sure did an outstanding job in the restoration ... I'd sure like to see a good photo of her Nose Art.

As a side note, back in the very early 50's, while stationed at Great Falls AFB, Montana, we made a number of trips to both Edmonton and Calgary and treated very well by our Northern Neighbors ...

Also, before moving to Ohio some 5 years ago, I was a New Jersey Devil's season ticket holder from day one to 2000. Great Game EH !

Of course in the Great North there is a Hockey team named The Spitfires with a logo of a Spitfire.

Yep, the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League.

And don't forget the Winnipeg Jets too!

New Jersey Devils? Son I gots news for ya, them be the former Colorado Rockies, and I had tickets to THEM long before they took to the ice in New Jersey, back when Lanny McDonald played for them! Good memories, not a very good team....

And have we forgotten the Houston Aeros, whose hockey jersey is I believe a B-25?

I was wondering if the forward hatch is available for installation, do you have one for the ship, is it being reconditioned for installation?? Not Knocking the job, just curious, as I have never seen that kind of entry ladder before on a B-25 :drink3:

Hi Gary

Just sent you a PM

The standard hatch and ladder are on hand.

The set up you see is to allow, firstly, the vets and members to safely get a look inside. At the Roll out once the vets had done their visit we allowed the public supervised viewing.

After that we are planning supervised when staffing and conditions permit.

So basically safety first and the correct parts are on hand

My goodness, what an incredible looking restoration!

I remember seeing her looking rather sad 6 or so years ago when I visited the museum, but boy she's looking terrific now!!

Thanks Tom, Got your PM. (responded)..The deal with the ladder sounds like a great "Safety" plan. I wan't knocking the application depicted in the photos, just curious, Again, GREAT Job!
