Just like in "real life" (meaning "everywhere other than the Internet"), don't state or claim anything about someone if you can't back it up with facts. Opinions are still a "grey area", but nonetheless subject to slander/libel suits just like misstated facts.
Your mama told you when you were little: "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything." She was right then, and she still is.
Some wise person once said, "Keep your words soft and sweet so that if you ever have to eat them, they'll go down easier" (or something to that effect; you get the idea!).
