The latest Wings Over New Zealand Show that I have posted is an interview that I did with Bernie Lewis, a New Zealander who joined the Royal Air Force in 1950 and trained as a fighter pilot, flying the Vampire and Sabre operationally. He then became an instructor with the Cambridge University Air Squadron at Marshalls, before being accepted for the Empire Air Training Scheme.

Completing his Test Pilot course, he went on the serve at Boscombe Down developing various helicopter and fixed wing projects.

He then joined Bristol Siddeley as a Test Pilot, and when they merged with Rolls Royce he stayed in that role and worked in all manner of interesting projects around the world including with the Concorde engines. Since about 1970 he had been in a number of other aviation roles in NZ till his retirement a few years ago.
