Sikorsky JRS-1 - NASM

Is the Sikorsky JRS-1 at the Hazy Center being restored or did they just reassemble it? I'd like to see it put on display "as is" but I can't find any information on the "plan." Thanks...

That's a question for Marauderman26 - he's the expert on the JRS-1 & actually works/worked on it for NASM's resto shop. Try to PM him... (I haven't talked to him directly in a while.)

I checked the NASM site and seen this one has an interesting history too. That would make 3 aircraft that I know of as PH survivors. The other two being the P-40 and the Duck. If we count the remains of the Japanese A6M2 Zero "B11-120" from the carrier Hiryu located at the PAM, it would make 4. (IAW Wiki)

This Sikorsky JRS-1 is the only aircraft in the museum collection that was stationed at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Its my understanding the JRS-1 for now is on display in the restoration shop with no restoration work taking place on it at this time. I dont know if there is a restoration timetable for this aircraft or not.
