I'm trying to find the wherabouts (or info on the demise of) Lockheed Lodestar N796G Msn 2102. The aircraft last changed hands in 1977 being sold by Omni International, Washington DC. The current FAA records show the aircraft as "Sale reported 1977 - not for sale"
This aircraft is historically important in Australia, and if still in existence, would be one of the oldest surviving aircraft operated by Qantas Airways in Australia. I'm writing a history on all the aircraft operated by this airline and would dearly love to find it. In the course of my research, I have been in contact with a man who lives in Queensland, Australia, who travelled with his father and mother (his father was the pilot) on this aircraft from the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia) to Broome, Western Australia, when the Japanese were invading indonesia in 1942, so he also has a great interest in finding out what has happened to it. Any help, leads, clues etc to where the aircraft is or could be, would be gratefully received and I'd appreciate an email to
rassie1@iprimus.com.au - Thanks so much.
Also there is a Lodestar off the end of the south West runway at Guadalupe Island, Mexico that has apparently been there for over 20 years. Could this be the elusive aircraft I'm looking for???
Thanks again Guys - I need you help with this one!!! I'd really like a contact name and email, address or phone number, and if possible any photos of it.
