War Eagles A-7.

Fri Aug 03, 2012 4:55 pm

War Eagles Air Museum has had an A-7E on display for several years. It is an outdoor display, so the paint has gotten very ratty looking. We are in the process of repainting her in the VA-83 "Rampagers" markings carried on the first cruise in the Med aboard the Forrestal in 1970. In June I primed the airplane and sprayed the underside white, but due to a number of issues I had not been able to spray the gull gray until today. Yesterday I spent the morning masking, so today was like a milestone.

This is what she will look like when done:

I am sunburned. Probably suffering the first stage of heat stroke, but I feel good! This project is not as cool as some of the warbird restorations, but it is my project!
