talk about an ambitious project!!! lt. colonel jenns robertson has spent 6 years working on 1 of the most unusual historical projects in u.s. modern times: compiling a database of EVERY BOMB DROPPED BY U.S. FORCES SINCE WW1. you can pick any geographical place in the world & look at the results in detail. project thor stands for "theater history of operations reports" & allows researchers to use their computers to pinpoint & click to nearly any location on the globe & receive a near instant assessment of when & where bombs were dropped by the u.s. over the past century. robertson's project is being used by the u.s. & other countries to save lives where major u.s. conflicts were involved. he works out of maxwell afb, and started the project as a hobby. the project has also trickled over to the 21st century w/ afghanistan & iraq. he is sifting through more than a million records. this is a project that will save uncounted lives finding dud or unexploded bombs found by innocent people who don't know what they are dealing with or how to deal with it.

It's admirable, I guess, but I don't understand how it will work. The accuracy of both the USAAF and the RAF was demonstrably dreadful during WWII, so how do they know where their bombs fell? The know where they were -supposed- to fall, but...GIGO.
