Liberty Aviation Museum in Ohio will take visitors back in time

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP -- The entrance to the new Liberty Aviation Museum is like stepping back in time.

It's designed like an Art Deco-style ticket desk, with a mural depicting exotic places, exposed air dusts and belt-driven ceiling fans to suggest Indiana Jones movies.

Even the chairs are period pieces. Jeff Sondles, associated with the museum, said visitors will get a virtual trip back in time when they see the variety of aviation artifacts and the décor.

"This one chair is one of six that used to sit in the airport in the '30s and '40s," Sondles said, pointing to a refurbished chair.

Any details on the paint change from her "Martha Jean" days?

As a request from the Liberty Aviation Museum: We ask that pictures not be posted of the new paint scheme and nose art until our Grand Opening / Unveil on July 20-22. We are really excited about all the work that has been accomplished by the crew at Aerotrader, and can't wait to get Georgie's Gal home, and properly unveiled to everyone. She was a great B-25 as "Martha Jean", but she's even nicer now as "Georgie's Gal"!

After the Grand Opening, Georgie's Gal will be on display at Oshkosh and at Thunder Over Michigan.

Thanks for your cooperation!

No sweat, Paul...but how shall we get any sleep until then?

By the way, any idea on departure day/time from Ohio to OSH?

lol! How will you sleep? I don't know, but the museum stopped posting pictures of the B-25 a few weeks ago, so the final result will be a surprise to all of us. So, how am I supposed to sleep? lol! At least I was in the office when the paint scheme and nose art were being discussed, and I did get to see the early renditions on paper. I'm positive the end result will be awesome!

I think the plan is to depart PCW on Sunday for the flight up to OSH along with the aircraft from the YAF.

Good deal...hope all have an uneventful run over. YAM website presently lists their B-17 attending from Thursday through Sunday.

My wife and I went to the museum today around 10:00 and at that point the C-47 and B-17 were there. Around 11:00 the P-51 landed and we shortly left. From what I understand the B-25 landed around 3:30. I will be back Sunday morning to try and get some pictures of her. Here are some photos from today.

Here are a couple of pictures of Georgie's Gal Sunday morning. I wasn't there yesterday before she landed and had to leave before she was pulled outside this morning so the pictures arn't that great.
