Thanks, Gary. Well not a lot of noticeable change since those pictures were posted. The P47 was moved back to the airport and hope to get the cowlings finished. Then it will be brought back to CFM for final assembly. There is work being done, just not much that shows up in a picture.

That likely applies to some of us in more than just one way.

Oh, BTW, my wallpaper:

No need to be jealous ktst97.

The only reason Nathan prefers my pic is that the Jugs are heavier and there are more of them.

Long live the P-47N. 8)

I really like your screen saver, but my wife took the one I use. Gotta be careful about using photos she didn't take.
I have yet to see an "N", but I did get to see the NMUSAF's "D" razorback fly in France in '63 when Republic sent it on tour. Beyond that, this old Jug lover only gets to see 47s at museum or airshows. My wife says that because 3 of the airshows we attended this past season were specifically for 47s we were sure to see fly, we are "P-47 groupies".

So what was the NMUSAF's P-47 on tour for? What made that one so special. I love to learn new things about the aircraft I see all of the time.

It was not owned by the AF museum at the time. Republic was operating it for publicity purposes.

As I recall, it had a prang while on tour, and Republic fixed it up to static condition and donated it to USAFM.
