Hamilton, Ontario, Canada - June 16 & 17, 2012

To celebrate our 40th Anniversary this year, the Hamilton Airshow 2012 is set to feature one of the largest gatherings of warbirds in Canada. In addition to all of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's flying aircraft (Lancaster - yes expected to be ready, Lysander, Firefly, B-25, PBY, etc.), other warbirds to include B-29, B-24, B-17, Helldiver, P-51, Wildcat, Skyraider, Avenger, Hurricane, Spitfire, Corsair, P-40 and more. Additionally, the RCAF Snowbirds and CF-18 demo, Matt Younkin's Beech 18, Golden Hawks Sabre and Red Bull racer Pete McLeod will be performing.

Here's a link to the HAMILTON AIRSHOW 2012 preview video. It will give you an idea of what to expect:

For the HAMILTON AIRSHOW 2012 website, visit:
http://www.hamiltonairshow.com
We try to keep the Performer listing updated as soon as we receive any changes. Additional aircraft are still expected to be announced.

We have made improvements over last year's show. We have revamped our ticketing system so you can buy online, print at home or have it scanned from your smartphone. To ensure smooth traffic flow, we have also hired a professional parking specialist who is very experienced in moving large volumes of people to and from the offsite parking. The flying time of the show has also been increased to 4.5 hours to ensure the stars of the show, the warbirds, have ample time to fly.

I am really looking forward to this show and making the trip up to Ontario from Northern Virginia. Looks like one of the best flying lineups at any warbird show in North America this year. Really looking forward to seeing the "Mako" T-33 from the Jet Aircraft Museum which is also on the flying performer list.

We have just received confirmation from the Military Aviation Museum that they will be bringing their Focke-Wulf (Flugwerk) FW190 to the Hamilton Airshow. We believe this is the first time an FW190 has ever been in Canada.

I'll see you and raise you, as I'll be crossing the Pacific. ;)

I also agree it looks a great dance card, and am really looking forward to it and catching up with my Canadian (and US and any other!) contacts there!

Regards,

It will be fantastic to see you again James. Catherine and I will be in attendance as well.

So, it is starting to look like we should be arranging a post-show dinner someplace. Does anyone have any suggestions for a location?

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

I'm hoping to be there but it'll depend on my work schedule; Sunday is already a no-go (for other reasons), I'll be there on the Saturday if time permits. Certainly eager to see a Fw190 fly, one of the major warbird types I've never seen in the air (and in fact I've seen only two of them even in museum collections).

Re a WIX dinner/get-together, there are plenty of restaurants on the Upper James Street commercial strip, north of the airport between Mt.Hope and Hamilton itself; it would be nice to catch up with everyone...maybe I could be there for that even if I'm unable to make the airshow...let's keep in touch about this idea.

If there is a WIX get together I'd be in

I'm coming out from Alberta to help out with the show.

My wife and I are planning to get "enhanced" Michigan driver's licenses this week, which will allow us to visit the Great White North without passports. Currently, I'm figuring on going to Hamilton, and possibly giving Thunder a miss this year (even though Thunder is only an hour up the road, and Hamilton's a five-hour drive.)

Without any arm twisting I would attend a WIX dinner.

Cheers,

Looks like there'll be a good number of chances to meet and greet! Excellent. I've started a thread in the WIX Meets forum, here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=45604 for people to check in.
