What are they going to give all the guys who didn't get shot down?

If all the pilots who didn't get shot down went through what he did, then they should get something......

Air Force officials said they will honor pilot Francis Gary Powers for exhibiting "exceptional loyalty" during harsh interrogation while in captivity.

I'm sure the people of Pound,VA will be proud.......

About time. The guy was a true hero. Too bad our government treated him like they did after he was released. At least they didn't leave him in Russia. I remember when he got killed in the helicopter crash. I was very saddened.

Well deserved. I read his book years ago...a harrowing story.

I like this quote: Air Force Brigadier General. Kevin Chilton said, "The mind still boggles (over) what we asked this man to do: Fly in a plane …over downtown Moscow, alone, unarmed and unafraid, then to suffer in prison during what indeed was a war, the Cold War."

Kevin Chilton incidentally, was a three time Space Shuttle pilot and achieved the highest rank of any astronaut. He retired from the Air Force with 4 Stars...
