There is a large wildfire burning a few miles west of Ft Collins, Colorado. The High Park fire is estimated to grow to 20,000 acres by tonight. Here are some pics from the air tanker base in Jefferson County. Unfortunately there were no ops in the morning as the winds were blowing around 30mph.

The thick smoke cast a reddish hue over the metro area.

Two Conair tankers were ready – had not seen these operate at Jeffco before.

Always good to see the Neptune crews

The single engine air tankers are perfect for the rough terrain of this fire.

Unfortunately i'm getting inundated with the smoke from that fire. Is that a 2 seat Ag Wagon?

Great pics, Buffie..especially the ones with the Flatirons as a backdrop. I took a fair number of pics of H&P Super Privateers there back in the early 80s. We're planning a visit next summer for the IPMS Nationals..it'll be my first trip back to Colorado in over 25 years.

"Is that a 2 seat Ag Wagon?"

They are Air Tractors, and yes one is a two seater.

Thanks for the correction and the info. Never knew there were 2 seat versions out there.

The two seaters are useful for hauling spotters, ground crew, loader, etc to remote sites if needed.
