Ummm, the RCAF used C-119F's which were fitted with R-3350's.
The mystery continues....

I think they used G's also.
August
I had thought that too August, but I have yet to find any records of C-119G's in RCAF service.
By the records I have, 21101-21135 were all C-119F's purchased directly from Fairchild.
Some of the early ones were delivered without the ventral tail fins, but were later retrofitted.
I guess the only difference between the F and the G is that the G was fitted with Aeroproducts propellers as compared to the Ham Standards on the F.
However one USAF C-119C (fitted with R-4360's) was used on trials in October 1950 which eventually led to the purchase of the 35 Boxcars, but I doubt that the timing device Jeff found is from that.
Perhaps it was on hand just in case a USAF B-36, B-50 or KC-97 dropped by an RCAF base and needed repairs?
