My name is Axel Ebermann - I am a documentary filmmaker and I spent the last four years travelling the world with Dakota aficionado Hans Wiesman, who scours the world for derelict DC-3 parts that he donates to museums or turns into designer furniture.

And what a journey it was: Hans talked Malagasy air force commanders into selling him their ‘Dakota’ scrap yards, argued with Thai officials why they should remove wingtips for him before they sink the planes to build artificial reefs and lit up with joy when he found the rare forgotten storage room full of Dakota parts in the jungle of Colombia.

The result of our adventures is the feature documentary ‘The Dakota Hunter’.

All the best, I hope you enjoy the film and please feel free to forward this email
to everybody who might be interested.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your enthusiasm....

Want to know where Hans found that steering column in Colombia ?

>>>

check it out. It all started with a rainy day that prevented us from hopping
on a Dakota and fly out of Villavicencio. So Hans got antsy and went out
on a little treasure hunt.

click the link for the video clip on the bottom.

cheers

So glad someone is doing such a thing as hunting for old "Dakotas". Some people have all the fun.
You guys know about the derelict DC-3 at an airport outside of Reynosa, Mexico?

I'm sure it's out of my league, but about how much does one of those wingtip desks cost?
