Can't stand the hours and hours of hype before the game starts so I always get out and go somewhere. Happen to be in Palm Springs. Palm Springs Air Museum. Sorry for the poor quality of photos, off my Iphone.

Found this display super interesting. Very detailed and looks to be very accurate as well. I'm sure the tail #'s are spot on too.

IMHO, half time super bowls suck. I think Madonna had something planned but chickened out the last minute. Probably some nude stunt. I think super bowl half time would be better spent if they got some vets together and have them on stage to honor them. That would be worth more then some boobs or fingers from so called 'stars'. Just my .02$

Sorry off topic back to the cool photos.

fotobass,
Don't fret the spelling. To become an A&P mechanic you have to be able to read and comprehend @ a Graduate Student level. And I can't tell you how many times in 40+ years I've climbed into a difficult, usually smelly place to verify that indeed the mechanic has replaced the CRAKED RIVITS or fixed the GAPED FASTNERS or check to see if those SHAYNK ED RIVUTS has bin fix ed.
I've determined that there at least three distinct types of driven, or mechanically finished fasteners in aviation, there are RIVETS, in common use all over, then there are RIVITS generally used in the South, and in the Midwest the mechanics choice is usually a RIVUT.

When I was a kid I used to build model airplanes, thought I was good at it, but I'm always very impressed with model collections I see in museums like this. Amazing detail. I could look at models for hours. Love the detail some of these folks put into their work. Outstanding detail on the ships on display as well. very nicely done. The sub is simply amazing in it's detail.

Sorry off topic back to the cool photos.

Boy, you said it Nathan. Madonna was LAME. Your idea of honoring veterans is a great one.

I'd say the Palm Springs air museum has to be one of the better arranged and lighted museums I've been to. Hopefully in my lifetime I'll see some of these warbirds take to the skies again. :D

Well I guess that's it for now. Hope you like a few of them (bad quality photos and all) and for those who haven't visited this museum stop by it's a great place to hang out for a few hours. There's also several veterans who have more than a few great stories to tell. Talked with a P-38 pilot for a good half hour. Great guy.

Thanks for the additional photos. Very nice indeed. I wish a certain museum in Dayton was as well lit as the PSAM is!
