The Weather Channel has added to it's prime time lineup a series of 6 programs of 30 minutes each detailing the goings on of Buffalo Airways of Yellowknife NWT Canada. Looks to be some radial engine action!!! Their fleet has DC-3 , DC-4 , C-46, CL-215 hauling fuel and freight. It premieres March 5 at 9PM Eastern. This is the same group who for a PBS Nova special recreated the dam busting spinning bombs. That was a really good show. They added framework to the botton of their DC-4 to secure the spinning bomb and released it it skip and strike a scale model dam exactly as in the Ruhr valley only on a lake in Canada. Some scale--- the spinning bomb weighed about 600 lbs. That NOVA is worth seeing. I just hope there's no drama and c_ap like that motorcycle chopper family.

Too late!! About the same in my opinion, just with airplanes.

I have watched 3 of the shows , and have been pleasantly surprised No more drama that an occasional "bleep" for salty talk. Watched them change a R-2800 on a C-46 in their hanger, change a "cylinder jug" on the tarmack on some little airfield they had to land on when the jug blew. It was in 2 pieces and they had to fly in their people with the tools etc. to get it done. Just professionals doing what they do and using big radials and turbos to do it. It was pre-empted tonite to cover the Texas tornadoes, hope Cavanaugh and V.F.M. were spared, and no casualties period, anywhere.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that can't stand the 'artsy' camera work on some of these documentarys. I usually turn them off as soon as it starts, and it's not just the zoom-in/zoom-out stuff. One of the most annoying is two cameras on a 'talking head' from two different angles where one is black-and-white and the other is in color, then they switch back and forth.

Sad thing is I may have missed some decent info due to this.

Thanks for caring! We're all OK here in the Metroplex. No damage at any of the museums that I'm aware of. According to the National Weather Service, there were 16 individual tornadoes in the metro area throughout the day, and even though over a million people were exposed to the thread, there were ZERO deaths! There was a lot of physical damage and destruction (hundreds of homes and dozens of businesses were wiped out) but THINGS can be replaced, LIVES can't.

As for Ice Pilots NWT, I absolutely *LOVE* the show! Sadly, in the USA the Weather Channel is showing half hour long cut-down versions of the shows, which are normally an hour long, and they're showing only six of the 13 episodes of Season 1 (Season 3 is currently airing in Canada). If you want the whole story, buy the DVD sets of Season 1 and Season 2 from "The Spitfire Emporium" (look 'em up on the internet and give 'em a call, they're friendly folks who are happy to ship outside of Canada).
