IIRC Crashed near State College PA while flying formation in IMC March 98. A/C remains didn't fill a pickup truck.
A/C was Bill Clark's P-51D-30-NT, N51WB. Bill Clark died in the crash.

Crashed in 1988 right after takeoff from State College. Was headed to Sun n Fun with Bob Byrne.... They got seperated after take off, Bob lost him and headed to FL, found out when he got there that Bill had run into a mountain. Seems like the data plate got rebuilt into another Mustang.

N51WB...isn't that the Whittington/Levitz/Sanders Mustang that was "Kangaroo" and now flies as "Jeannie Too"?

I think Bill and Bob were on their way to TICO first, then Sun N Fun. We were at the VAC show at Tico when we heard the news.
We lost a good one that day. :(

From the Col. on Bill Clark's accident:

Hey Jerry,

Yes Bob and Bill were on there way to VAC show I was sitting in the Air Ops when Bob called for his turn for final and he had ask if Bill was there yet. At that time no one knew he had crashed we didn't find out till maybe about an hour later.

Feel free to post this if you want

Cheers
Rob

Clark's 51 was N51WE, not N51WB.
