Warbird Information Exchange

I had the opportunity to visit the site of the Bristol 170 Freighter crash on Beaverlodge Lake, NWT, about a month ago. I know the history of that wreck, but there's what I've been told is Cessna Crane wreck in the bush there as well.

Would be interesting to find out the history of this crash, and identify the aircraft if at all possible. There certainly isn't much left though.











And one of the engine mounts from earlier in the summer.

Cessna T-50 Crane Mk 1, c/n 1498, RCAF 8005. Taken on strength by No. 1 Training Command at Trenton 3 Oct 1941. To Prairie Airways for overhaul, 15 October 1943 to 3 March 1944. To storage with No. 2 Training Command when completed. To No. 2 Air Command on 1 December 1944, still in storage. Pending disposal from 27 June 1945. Stored at No. 2 Reserve Equipment Maintenance Unit, where it was noted with 1998:35 total time, 8:35 since overhaul. Transferred from War Assets Corporation to Royal Canadian Flying Club Association. Registered as CF-COD. Crashed in 1953.

You might try asking Joe McBryan - he'd likely know more about it. I seem to recall it getting taken out by a forest fire in the mid-nineties.
