A U.S. Navy LTV A-7E Corsair II from attack squadron VA-81 Sunliners about to launch from the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-60) on 22 March 1986. VA-81 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17) aboard the Saratoga for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 16 August 1985 to 16 April 1986. On 15 April 1986 Saratoga´s aircraft participated in "Operation El Dorado Canyon", the bombing of Libya.

A Missouri Air National Guard Boeing KC-97L Stratofreighter of the 180th Aerial Refueling Squadron, 139th Aerial Refueling Group, refueling two U.S. Air Force Vought A-7D Corsair IIs of the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing, based at England Air Force Base, Louisiana (USA). The 23rd TFW flew the A-7D from 1972 to 1981, the 139th ARG retired its KC-97Ls in 1976. The Stratofreighter 53-0283 (Boeing c/n 17065) was loaned to Japan on 4 May 1965. It was returned to the USAF on 23 April 1970 and converted to a KC-97L. Later it was put on display at NAS JRB Forth Worth (Texas). Bought by a private party in December 2001, it was trucked to Colorado Springs (Colorado) and used for a restaurant.

Four U.S. Navy LTV A-7E Corsair II aircraft from attack squadron VA-72 Blue Hawks fly in formation as they return to the United States following deployment in the Persian Gulf area during Operation Desert Storm on 1 June 1991. The Corsair at the rear exhibits a special camouflage paint scheme and sports the name of the war in which it played a role. VA-72 and VA-46 Clansmen were the last U.S. Navy A-7 squadrons and were decommissioned following their return home after twenty years of service in Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3). Both squadrons were last assigned to the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) and were decommissioned on 30 June 1991.

A U.S. Navy Ling-Temco-Vought A-7E Corsair II (BuNo 159658) from attack squadron VA-15 Valions on 1 June 1976, armed with ten 227 kg (500 lb) Mk 82 bombs. VA-15 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 6 (CVW-6) aboard the aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66) for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 15 April to 25 October 1976. The A-7E 159658 was later sold to Greece (as A-7H). Note the small U.S. bicentennial badge above the air intake.

The squadron's aircraft, along with planes of VA-46 Clansmen, were decommissioned on 30 June 1991 following return to the United States after twenty years of service in Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3). This particular Corsair exhibits a camouflage paint scheme along with the name of the war in which it played a part. Corsairs of both VA-72 and VA-46 had been stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). Note the "Camel" symbols for missions flown during the Operation Desert Storm below the cockpit.

I always thought the 'SLUF' would have looked really cool with a factory installed toothpick in one side of the inlet because it's got that street wise tough guy look about it. :supz:

Cool pic of the SLUF with the HARM aboard. I spent 19 years, 4 months working on the HARM program for TI/Raytheon. The A-7E was the first Navy aircraft we outfitted with HARM. We also deployed HARM on the A-6E, EA-6B, and F/A-18 series for the Navy, the F-4G and F-16 series for the USAF, and the Panavia Tornado for various NATO air arms.

Any Idea if there will ever be a flying A-7 on the SHow circut?
