This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I didn't go, but the Yellow Rose did. I haven't heard anything yet about the show, other than from a friend of mine who was shooting (pyro) the show. He said it was good, but small.

Good show, great weather, crowd was not enormous, and even less so on the Sunday.
From memory the following were “active”:
Single Tora
P47 (LSFM)
Bearcat (HP)
P51 (HJGB)
Skyraider
Wildcat (CFM)
C47 (CFM)
A26
B25 (Yellow Rose)
Mig (Randy Ball)
Stearman (John Mohr)
Aeroshell T6 (3 ship + single acro)
Curtiss JN-4 Jenny
C17
T38s
Texan IIs
F16
Snowbirds
Wings of Blue (Air Force Parachute)
Tim Weber (acro)
Rob Holland (acro)
Air Force jet car
Pyro.
and OH-13 helicopter (CFM), if you count our "high-speed" departure on Sunday afternoon
(Sorry if I missed anyone, and no photos...battery on my camara took a dump and wouldn't recharge!)

I was there, crewing the P-47 (which involves putting gas and oil into it, and then cleaning same off the outside of it after flight). Got lots of pics, but they're in the can (yes, I am a dinosaur, still shoot film).
Not withstanding the acts, this airshow was really poor. There was a total of 6 military static aircraft that came in, and half of those were foreign. The military component to the show was a flyby of based T-38s and T-6s, a C-17 flyby (no demo), and a F-16 demo. That was it. Sheppard usually has a very good show, with a good variety of aircraft coming in to inspire all the trainees. Not so this time.
The warbird and civilian components did a good job, very nice variety of birds. Seeing a high speed, high G demo by one of the 4 flying Jennies in the world was a hoot. The PT-17 demo was awesome, when they say that guy has a clearance down to ground level, they aren't kidding. I saw his wingtip parting grass on the ground in front of me during the Friday practice.
The Aeroshell T-6 team was there with borrowed aircraft. Something I did not know before is that on AF bases, performing warbirds of US manufacture MUST have paint schemes that are 80% militarily accurate (whatever that means). So, they couldn't fly their own aircraft, with the sponsor's logos and paint schemes.
The flip floppers were limited to 2, which was a nice balance. I've seen too many shows with 4-6 of these dedicated aerobatic acts, and they all run together.
Tuna did a great job horsing the Skyraider around (Hi Tuna!)

Thanks for the report, just looking for some photos of the action, plus a certain Bear!
So it was calm enough for the Jenny to fly! Nice.

The warbird paint rules must be new, or perhaps unique to Sheppard; the GEICO Skytypers performed at Scott AFB a couple of years ago in their regular aircraft (also T-6s).

It is not new with this show. I know the rule was in place last year at Lackland and may have been previously elsewhere during the year (though I do not know when it began with AF).

The airshow at Sheppard AFB this year is the first airshow out of the last 4 that did not have David Schultz Airshows LLC involvement. I wonder if that might have something to do with things. Hmmmmm. Just sayin'.

Hi all! I just stumbled across this thread while doing some research on my SAFB photos. I'm just starting to post up some photos show. I've got a lot more to go, but you are all welcome to take a look at what I've done so far.
