Latest blog story - my friend a former RAAF pilot ended serving in Vietnam as a O-1 Birdog FAC / pilot assigned to a USAF unit. He was recommended for a US Medal Of Honour for his work while in country....unique for a foreigner let alone an Australian!. See flightgear he wore and some of the conditions he flew in.

Find out more - http://heritageflightgear.blogspot.com/ ... ac-in.html

Liberator, I served with flight Officer Garry Cooper. He belongs to our Battalion Association. (5thbattalion.org) 5th battalion 60th infantry 9th Division. A lot of us old dudes are still around because of Garry, I got to see him again in St. Louis, Mo at a reunion a few years back.

There is a herd of O1s' in authentic colors in the U.S. We had 46 at a Birdog Gathering a few years back, and I would say at least half have authentic paint jobs; and we have quite a few veteran pilots who flew them in country including some Ravens. Also have an old geeser who flew the first L-19 in Korea, ferrying them across from Japan. He still don't like sharks but thats another story.
