Okay super sleuths...here's one I'm hoping you can answer.

Back in the '60's when I was a kid, my Dad used to take us kids to Chicago's O'Hare airport to watch commercial airplanes from the rooftop observation areas at the junction of each passenger terminal "wye". Our last stop before leaving the airport for the day would always be a visit to the Butch O'Hare bust (statue) in the main terminal parking lot (of all places!). I think it was a bronze bust, rather than a full-sized statue, but my memory has faded as to the exacts.

Obviously the airport has changed dramatically over the years, and there no longer is a "main" terminal parking lot; there's more like several main lots.

So where did the Butch O'Hare bust (statue?) go? Is it still on the airport somewhere, or has it migrated elsewhere?

Also, does anyone have a photo of it from back then? I'd love to see what I saw and can't remember so well.

Thanks in advance...

--Tom

This artical indicates it's located between terminals 1 & 2.

I know there's a Wildcat on display at O'Hare that represents his aircraft.

Thanks Mike; I'll have to look for it by the Wildcat next time I'm at O'Hare.

I saw the Wildcat today as we checked in to drive our newly refurbished B-717 southbound. Took an iPhone photo of the Wildcat but the previous link is much nicer so I won't bother posting mine.

The "true" story below about Butch's dad being a lawyer for Al Capone:
