Can't remember where I got this pic or if was sent to me in email but I have not seen this type of bump b4 on a T-6 unless it was under the wing for a gun pod. Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks.

Early T-6s inc BC-1A ie AT-6 and up to the SNJ-2 had a wet center section.
That's what you're looking at :)

I believe the center section is narrower maybe. Also the Horiz. stabs have more rake and
are sought after by the T-6 racers in the quest to go faster.

SNJ-2 center section is 7" wider and the gear is 3" longer, the tail cone is, I think 8" shorter.

Stoney,

I sent you a pm, but at the risk of hijacking a thread I thought others may be interested or have a suggestion. I have quite a bit of T-6 MLG components. I recently aquired an assembled set and the upper housing is significantly longer than anything else I have. I thought I had measured it as 4" longer, but don't remember for sure. I'm going to measure it again tomorrow. I'm wondering now if they could be SNJ-2, or is there another variant I'm not aware of? I was curious if the inner cylinder was the same, or if the stroke was longer but I didn't want to know bad enough to dissassemble them.

The SNJ-2 is a very different airplane from the later models. There are too many differences to list here but yes the gear legs are taller the gear actuator rods are a differnt length also. Years ago when repairing one of the airplanes after a groundloop, I unknowingly installed later model gear acuator piston/rod (it's shorter if I remember correctly) and while swinging the gear after repairs found out the gear wouldn't retract all the way. It stopped short of the uplocks by about 6 inches. We broke the gear trunion casting during that groundloop also and found out it is completely different (and there are none available) from the later models so we ended up welding it then passivating the entire casting after the welding. I will say however if it wasn't for the fact that the SNJ-2's are so different from the other models and lots of parts are not interchangable I would prefer the SNJ-2 over the other models (hands down).
Call Skytypers and let them know you have those gear legs maybee they would want to purchase them from you.
