Its called "The Twilight Warriors" all about fighter operations associated with the Okinawa campaign and dealing with the kamikaze threat. The author is Robert Gandt. So far I find the book to be a good read. I just finished an excellant book called "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson. Its a look at Germany after Hitler became chancellor in 1933 through the eyes of the American ambassador to Germany, William Dodd. Although not aviation related, I found the book to be fascinating and I highly recommend it. Anyone else read either of these books?

I'd suggest "Defying Hitler" by Sebastian Haffner. Written before WW2, describing from a German's perspective the rise of Hitler. A terrifying book when you place it before WW2. It's not been re-written so it's of the time.
