I've been away from here because I did a ferry flight of a C-172 from Phoenix, AZ to Lakeland, FL. At the airport in Phoenix behind the C-172 I flew back, there is a PBY parked. I don't know anything about it, so if someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thought I'd post the pics. I was also at an interview with Great Lakes Airlines and will be in the August 1st Class for the Beech 1900, so I'm excited that I have my first "Airline" flying job. Take care, and enjoy, there are a lot of pics. What are your favorites? Not bad since the pics were taken with an iPhone.

Nice pics, but opening up someone else' plane without their permission is definitely NOT cool!

It is in Glendale. I had permission to open up the airplane, was joking about not saying anything.

It belongs to Hans Lauridsen. It's part of his collection that includes a B-25, A-26, C-47, SNJ, C1A, HU-16, C-119 and others.

Just to add to what's been said already, it's actually a former RCAF Canso A, not a PBY-5A, built by Canadian Vickers at Cartierville Quebec, c/n CV-343, RCAF serial 11047. That said, as is the way with these things, its registered by the FAA as a PBY-5A but has no US Navy history. Post-RCAF, it flew for years with the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador as a water bomber registered CF-OFI, later C-FOFI. Prior to becoming N413PB, it was allocated N343CV (based on the c/n) but this was not taken up.

I thought it looked great in its previous garb too. With all the other projects Mr. Lauridsen already has going I think maybe he would have been better off to leave this one alone until the other were finished. Of course, that just my .02 cents which may not be worth even that much!

Nice shot - as can be seen, Buffalo Airways had it after the Province of N & L but retained the latter's gorgeous livery.
