Nice to see Ben Halls old F-86A 8178 again, we miss it here in the Pacific Northwest!

How's that Spitfire restoration coming along? Thought I read in one of the Warbird Directories that some company in the UK gave the Spitfire a 50 year overhaul....so I kinda wonder why the Spitfire is under restoration at this point?

Thanks chaps

Mark

The Spitfire was overhauled by Westlands on the 70s. This was not an indepth strip down rather a "major service" It needed a rebuild as, when they took a close look at it when they took the engine out, a number of rivets had been found to have popped. The decision was then taken to give it an in depth overhaul. When its finished it will be one of the most original spitfires still flying as as they are reusing as many parts as possible.

It will fly again (all being equal) during 2012. Along with (hopefully) the Comet.
